Danube Delta Wildlife Cruise - 5 Days

During this four days holiday we explore the Danube Delta – a wetland area larger than Coto Donana and the Camargue combined. From the comfort of our floating hotel, we’ll explore a maze of channels and lakes, marveling at the sheer numbers of pelicans, herons, and other waterbirds all around us. Our exploring boat will take us through small channels and shallow lakes where the best wildlife resides. On board our floating hotel we will enjoy traditional meals and have drinks on the upper terrace.

Day 1 :

MEETING AT THE MOORING PLACE IN TULCEA

The Birdwatching Cruise will start in Tulcea where the floating hotel will be mored for embarking. You are expected to be ready to board in the afternoon. Wellcome dinner and accommodation on the floating hotel.

Day 2 :

TULCEA - SFANTU GHEORGHE

Departure from Tulcea during breakfast to Sfantu Gheorghe. We will spend approximately 6 hours on the floating hotel, sailing along the arm of Sfantu Gheorghe. We will have breakfast and lunch on board the floating hotel during the trip.

After lunch we will dock near the village of Sfantu Gheorghe. In the afternoon we will take a trip with a motor boat to the mouth of the Danube. Here we will be able to disembark on the beach of Sfantu Gheorghe. After a walk on the beach, we reach an area where we can take a break for a swim or relax on one of the terraces in the area. We walk back to the village, where the boat is waiting for us for the transfer to the floating hotel. A good dinner awaits us on board the floating hotel.

Day 3 :

SFANTU GHEORGHE - SULINA - MAGEARU CHANNEL

The day begins with a trip to Sahalin Island, before breakfast. We will explore the youngest Romanian territory, while enjoying the sunrise in the bird’s paradise. The flocks of herons and flocks of pelicans in the early hours of the morning will make for an unforgettable spectacle. After we return from Sahalin, we will have breakfast on the floating hotel. After breakfast, they leave for Sulina on a wonderful route along the Coastal Canal. From the upper decks of the floating hotel we will sail along the coast in a unique landscape, where the Delta meets the Black Sea.

After lunch there will be a trip to Sulina. Here we can learn the history of the European Commission of the Danube, enjoying a cold drink or a walk on the promenade. After the visit to Sulina we will sail towards the Old Danube where we will spend the evening in the middle of nature, near the Magearu Channel.

Day 4 :

MAGEARU CHANNEL - LETEA - MILA 23

After breakfast we set off on a boat trip to the famous village of Letea, where we will spend about two hours exploring the Magearu Channel with floating islands called “plauri” and tens of hectares of water covered with water lilies. After visiting the village, we will go by cart to the Letea Forest. Here we visit the sand dunes and the lush vegetation that have made this place famous worldwide. We will return to the floating hotel for lunch.

In the afternoon we will board the boat again to explore the area of the famous lakes – Bogdaproste, Amiaza, Căzănel and Trei Iezere and in the evening, we will meet at the floating hotel near the village of Mila 23 on the Lopatna canal. A good dinner awaits us on board the floating hotel.

Day 05 :

MILA 23 - TULCEA

Early in the morning (5:00 – 6:00 AM) we will take an optional trip to enjoy the last sunrise in the Danube Delta on the nearby lakes, after which we will meet the floating hotel for breakfast. During this time we are heading towards Tulcea, during which we will relax and admire the wonderful landscapes from the terraces of the floating hotel. After lunch, we will arrive in Tulcea, disembarking around 3:00 PM.
